Plastic bag lovers are stockpiling before they are made illegal

"That's revolting really. Maybe these people who have time to go to supermarket more often just to pile up plastic bags should use that same time to clean beaches, waterways, etc when these plastic bags end up there. It was bad to have plastic bags in a first place, but this tactic is irresponsible. It might be a "small thing" but it's also a symptom of how our society think: when are we gonna change??? When will we understand our actions have consequences, and it's not in the hands of the governments but in all of us to make a difference??"

Reflexions sur les bus a Wellington

I feel going through the five stages of grieving "a nice, reliable transport network for Wellington":

- First, there was denial: surely the GRWC promise of an efficient, reliable, future proof, electric bus network is just around the corner and we're just going through teething problems;

- Then came extreme anger at the realisation that, no, it was (we were) truly screwed up;

- I feel I'm now at the "depression" stage, very sad of the situation, on the cost it has on people's lives, not only on a day to day basis, but also long term;

- Since we can't bargain to get our good network back, next stage will be acceptance. And maybe that's what GRWC is waiting for: like us over the past few days in Wellington, it is weathering the storm and waiting for it to end. At the end of the day, PTOM was designed for this, to make the bus network cheaper by introducing competition. From that perspective, GRWC has truly delivered: it is now paying peanuts (less subisidies) ... but we're getting monkeys.
